Mid-year evaluation

As any real blogger does, I occasionally check the stats on my blog.  Happened to do that today and I am always surprised to see that people sometimes read posts that are 4 or 5 months old.  Not only is it hard to remember your own posts, but it turns out I'd completely forgotten what on earth I blogged that my New Year's resolutions were.  Not a great sign.

So I went back and took a look at what I committed to (publicly).  By the standards of typical resolution makers, I've done very well...
1- No drinking in January - well I actually did that successfully.  Had almost forgotten about that.
2- Yoga every day in January - probably made it half way there.  This is one I need to get back to.  I'm feeling more stressed now that I'm working, and have lots of tight muscles to show for it.  I've started getting some headaches which I never used to.  Is it tension or is it some kind of allergy sinus pressure thing?  Who knows but it does feel better after I stretch a lot.
3- Get a job-  Done.  Check the box.  Have survived 3 weeks of a new job at Pearson.  The adjustment is going pretty quickly.  The first week was tough, but I'm getting used to it.
4-Meet new people- I've been pretty lame about this one.  I blame it partly on the crappy winter which had me hiding out in my house until March.  But I'm making some minor strides.  I just invited one of my new neighbors (they're newer than me even) to join me and some friends for a memorial weekend cookout.  And I might join up for a community mentoring program.  So I'm trying to refocus on this one.

Plus I have to say that people in the neighborhood seem more friendly now that they see me in work clothes, walking to the T for my commute.  I think the woman who'd never spoken to me before summed it up when she said "I think this is the first time I've ever seen you without your dog!".  I was a labeled as TOTALLY suspicious.  (single but living in a family neighborhood the suburbs, hermit that only goes out with her dog, doesn't seem to work, etc.)  Of course it could just be that it's Spring and everyone's outside again.

Speaking of Spring, [insert traditional whine about the weather being too cold for May].  I feel by cutting the lawn in 55 degree weather that my act of faith in Spring should be rewarded!
