Winter Hibernation Interruptus

Geez it's been a long time since I posted to the blog.  Sadly that's kind of representative of the hibernation I've been in.  There's only so many times you can complain about the weather on your blog so I just shut up about it for a while. And I escaped to Florida for a few days of respite from the cold and ice.  So today when we're at the start of a 3 day melt, I've come out of hibernation to say hi.

I don't know if any others of you have felt this way but January was pretty grim.  I pretty much only left the house to walk the dog, shovel snow, shop for groceries, and go for the occasional meeting or job interview.  Oh, and I was baking pies.  Lots of pie, including a few pie recon outings.

The pie project is in full swing.  There has been a lot of time spent playing around with the formula for making mini-pies, answering important questions such as "should they be hand formed or in a tin?", "how do you get the proper filling when they typically are only cooked for half the time of a regular pie?" etc.  Truly spellbinding questions.  Apparently to me they actually are, given how much of my brain has been dedicated to figuring this out.

I guess I'm a little late given that the groundhog already stuck his head out of his hole.  But here I am, taking a break from winter hibernation.  Fun things in store for this weekend like seeing if I can chip ice off my front walk once it's warmed up a little.  Woohoo!
