New Year's Resolutions 2011

Just like everyone else I'm taking the opportunity at the start of the new year to assess what changes are needed in the next year of my life.  I'm with most folks in having limited follow through on these things, but setting the intention is always a good idea.  And putting it out there so that you feel a bit more accountable to the intention because others know.  I hate to look like a failure!
Ok here goes... my "resolutions" for 2011...

1- No adult beverages for all of January.
This is instead of doing the generic "lose 20 lbs" goal.  I figured maybe smaller, more achievable goals that have the potential to contribute to this would be more impactful.

2- Yoga every day in January.
Not a full yoga class every day, but now that I've got the Wii Fit plus other dvds for yoga, I can commit to 15 mins of yoga a day.  See if I can turn it into a habit that will last longer.  Plus if I'm not drinking, I'm gonna need some stress outlet!

3- Make the next career move. (alternatively known as "get a job")
Perhaps this should be #1, but I feel like I've got a bit less control over this one.  12 months does seem like a timeline that makes this rather achievable. :)

4- Meet new people.
Now that I'm living in a new community, I will make more effort to get connected with people who live there and contribute.

Ok, in my book that's enough resolutions.  Probably one too many really if you're going to remember them and follow through (taking a lesson from corporate goal setting experiences).  That doesn't mean that's all of my intentions, but that's all that I'm committing to in a public blog. :)

Nothing too original on the list, but at least it's out there.  Notice that none have to do with the house.  Apparently I don't really need resolutions to have the motivation for those things.  Although the spending moratorium on house projects will be continuing until April or so.

So far so good.  No drinking yet today.  Now it's time to get that Wii Fit set up I guess!
