I can't remember the last time we had rain for 3 days in a row. And I've never been in the position of trying to entertain a 7 year old for 3 rainy days in a row. Really his mother is doing all the heavy lifting, but I'm getting a good taste of it. Luckily this is not occurring while in my DC condo - the extra space is coming in handy!
New Auntie learnings from this week...
1- If you are looking around for rainy day activities for a kid, everyone else is too. OMG the Museum of Science was somewhat insane. Massive traffic jam to approach the museum because the garage was full. I dropped them off once I got close and it took me 45 minutes to get parked and back to the museum. Arghh. Also the visit to the Lego store was even more maniacal.
Having learned this lesson we have rethought our plan to go to the Children's museum today. :)
2- In exchange for emptying your wallet, fancy lego sets can provide hours of entertainment in the putting them together. Once. They are not to be destroyed and rebuilt, at least not according to my nephew. Once it's built that's it, value drops to close to zero. This may cause you to go to the maniacal Lego store more than once in 2 days of rain.
3- Do not ask a picky eater "why" he doesn't like something. This is not a question that can be answered to your satisfaction. Especially if it's your special kid pizza that he loved in DC.
4- Phineas and Ferb is pretty funny.
5- Be thankful for a mellow nephew when you're trapped by rain for 3 days. :)
ha! awesome! good to know about the legos :)
