Well, I made it.
What a year I've had so far. In January my father died. And that same week my condo came up to the top of the rental waitlist. Don't get me wrong: they certainly aren't equivalent things. But those two events combined to make for a "toss your life up in the air and go for it" moment. Since then, with the help of friends and family, I've cleared out my parents home, moved out of my home in DC, managed their estate, found renters for my condo, lived in temporary exile up on North Shore, bought my first true house, moved in, comforted a traumatized little beagle, and helped sell a second company to Blackboard. OMG!
And now, it all starts fresh. No more dying parents. No more housing limbo. No more merger mania. I find myself living in the suburbs for the first time since leaving for college. And with my first house, and first yard- with room for lots of friends and family and fun parties. The next chapter starts with simple questions like 'what should I cook on the new grill?' or 'do I really need to buy a ladder?'. What a nice change of pace.
